I ain’t even going to ramble on this one folks. If your a reader of the blog, you already know that Fred is the truth. So here you go. The “National Anthem” flick, not no BTS scenes shit. Str8 Killa No Filla mixtape out Thursday on XXLMag.com and the Str8 Killa EP in stores on August 3rd…..’nuff said.
I get flack for postin’ a lot of Gibbs’ shit on this site. People tell me I’m on his nuts, and I should make a site dedicated to him, so on and so forth, blah, blah, blah. My first reaction is that, if likin’ someones shit that you’ve been bumpin’ before anyone else, and are ecstatic about him finally gettin’ the recognition that he deserves, then yea, by all means….I’m on Freddie’s sack, fuck it. Rather it be him then Charles Hamilton, or some other skinny jean wearin’ faggot. And yes, I’m launchin’ a Gibbs’ site, gangstagibbs.com bitches.
Anyways, back to business, and the business is Freddie Gibbs lead single off of Str8 Killa No Filla, yes, street tapes have singles nowadays, of course is “The Ghetto”, a song Rap Radar’s Elliott Wilson, and damn near everyone else of importance in the blogosphere has had on repeat since it was leaked has finally made it’s way to debuted on MTV.
The flick was shot by Brandon “N2ition” Riley last month in Gary, and Chicago. The video does the song justice, and gives viewers a chance to see Tha G for what’s it’s worth, which hasn’t been much for a hot minute.
What? You thought after the year he had in 2009 that Freddie Gibbs would just ::poof:: and disappear? Nope, don’t think so.
To kick 2010 off right, Gangsta Gibbs and Mikkey Halsted have joined forces on a joint from the upcoming album The Break Out that Fake Shore Drive and Chicago Area producer Maja 7th are about to release to the masses.
Shot in, and Gary, IN, and Chicago the flick was directed by Brandon Riley for N2ition Productions and features Freddie, and Mikkey painting pictures with their words about their own respective hoods.
For all you Freddie Gibbs fans who have been patiently waiting, like myself for this video to drop, hold on to ya seats….it’s time to ride out.
Freddie has already dropped two of the rawest, if not best mixtapes of the year with ‘The Miseducation”, and “MidwestBoxframeCadillacMusik”, so it’s only fitting he has a ill video to match.
The video was directed by none other then Matt Alonzo, who has helmed mjor video’s for the likes of Game (Dopeboys), Soulja Boy (Turm My Swag On), B Real of Cypress Hill (“Psycho Realm Revolution”).
“Womb 2 Tha Tomb” also features a talented up and comer out of the “A” named Pill, who on his own right is conquering the game, also as an independent.
Fuck it, don’t take my word for it. Check it out for yourself:
If ya’ll don’t know who Ric Jilla or Soope is, I wanna know what rock you’ve been hiding under for the last 10 years.
Let’s start with Soope. He was one of the original, and founding members of The Grind Family (google ‘em bitches) who has done everything from gracing magazine covers (MurderDog), and sat on the Billboard charts all while being an independent artist.
Ric Jilla is known best for his time with the Grind Family, his rigorous mixtape hustle, his work with The Legendary Traxster, and his “On The What” video that continuously sat atop BET’s Uncut video charts, and being signed through the Warner Bros. backed Legion Records. Well the Legion folded and Ric is back grinding as a free agent.
One day the Hip Hop god’s smiled down upon us, and got these two vets in the studio for a classic mixtape that you’ll soon see on this site.
But until then here’s the first street single, “How You Gone Act”….peep tha flick:
